What is the North Beach Village re-development project?
Located between Fort Lauderdale’s Bonnet House Estate and the new W Hotel was a stretch of low-rise buildings begging for a re-birth. In a 2012 issue, Tropic Magazine challenged 5 design teams to reimagine this area. Cadence collaborated with Powers Schram Architects to create a sustained coastal destination. North Beach Village is a place where environmental, economic, and social implications are equally considered to bring vitality back to the streets of Breakers, Terramar, VistaMar, and Windamar. Streets, that beg to once again live up to their suggestive names.
Special consideration was given to multi-modal access, versatile business opportunity, and investment in public open space. The vision for North Beach Village was to re-imagine old-Florida hospitality with a pedestrian focused village; echoing days when canopy trees towered over this beach front barrier island. The new North Beach Village is becoming a progressive development model – honoring connection and collaboration.
The Story about North Beach Village’ re-invention
Par Sanda is a Swedish entrepreneur, developer and stock trader. His accomplishments include establishing the Pan Capital Group, an international stock market trading company and the re-development of the North Beach Village, an area of 1950’s mid-century hotels and resorts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In 2010, during the recession, Par Sanda looked into alternative investments and turned to South Florida’s real estate market. He purchased over 35 properties on Fort Lauderdale’s barrier island in what is now known the North Beach Village. The village’s title comes from the name of the zoning district: North Beach Residential Area.
Most of the properties purchased by Pan Capital were mid-century hotels and resorts. Sandå started redeveloping the area, with a program of renovation and reopening of his acquisitions as boutique hotels, with distinctive characters and themes.
To name some of them: TropiRock, The Winterset Suites, Robindale Suites, North Beach Village Hotel, The Grand Palm Plaza, Hotel Lush Royale, La Casa Resort, Royal Palms Resort and Spa, The Aqua Hotel, The Plaza Bistro, Tara Hotel, Tranquilo Hotel, Cocobelle Resort, The Beach Gardens Hotel.
The main concept was to create a pedestrian friendly, European-style village area where visitors and locals alike could stroll along streets lined with art galleries, cafes, and retail shops.
Sanda’s personal perception about peace, love and happiness, were a constant in the North Beach Village re-imagination.
The Gale Hotel and
The Gale Residences
are part of the North Beach Village.
A boutique hotel, adjoining a mid-rise building with only 128 residences structured as a condominium building are breaking ground on August 17, 2016.
The Gale Residences have been selling for more than one year now. More than 70% is already sold out, but many good units are still available.
Developers announce the completion of the building should take a little more than one year from now.
The Gale multiple amenities confirm the commitment to quality of life.
The Gale is equally convenient to residents of Florida who want to make The Gale Residences their permanent home, as well as those who think of renting from time to time their vacation home.
Owners at The Gale have no rental restrictions and have the additional advantage of the use of most of adjoining Gale Hotel’s amenities. However, the Gale Residences will be completely independent from the hotel, with their own lobby, amenities, gym, and other owners’ exclusive facilities.
